Add files as task context
In a ready composer, open the + menu and choose Upload files. You can also paste a file into the composer. The picker and any validation message show the currently accepted formats and size limits; follow those live rules instead of relying on a copied list.
Check before you send
An attachment is part of the conversation context sent for processing. Remove anything the agent does not need, and do not upload secrets or third-party material you are not allowed to share. If an agent requires a particular input type, the composer may block sending until the requirement is met.
Confirm the filename and preview tile.
Remove accidental or duplicate attachments.
Explain in your prompt how each file should be used.
Wait for upload completion before sending.
Open files in the conversation
Uploaded attachments and agent-produced files appear as file cards or media controls. Click a supported file to open its preview. Preview behavior depends on the format: some files open in a viewer or player, while an unsupported format falls back to a file card.
Preview is for inspection, not permanent storage. If the card offers Download, save the file locally when it matters. See Task control if the run is still producing outputs.
Recognize deliverables
An agent may provide a written answer and one or more separate deliverables. Delivered outputs can arrive as distinct cards when they are ready; a URL mentioned in prose is not automatically the same as a platform-delivered file.
Read the final message for scope and caveats.
Open each delivered file and check its contents.
Download the version you intend to keep.
Ask for a correction in the same task if the deliverable does not meet the brief.
Understand access and sharing
Files you upload remain accessible only to you as a viewer, even when you share the conversation. Files the agent delivers in a private conversation are also visible only to you. If you make the conversation public, people who open its shared link can view the conversation and its delivered files without signing in. Sharing does not give those viewers access to your uploaded files. Review the conversation before sharing it. For the wider data policy, read Privacy.
